Military has consolidated position along border: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: DG-ISPR addressed the media to highlight and inform mechanisms regarding impending security issues. Bajwa  related to Border Management as integral component of Pakistan’s policy of curbing cross border terrorism. The events of terror attack on Christian colony in Warsak precipitated resolve to counter networks that harbor and sponsor terrorism, he said.

Bajwa stated that Frontier Corps have consolidated their position in the border and adjoining areas. "Major and minor posts have been built and occupied to re-instate coordination and control in pursuit of destroying terrorist outfits.

"Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) led to arrest of the terrorists involved in Warsak attack and they were presented before Media. Bajwa further stated that IBOs are critical for restoring peace, stability and order in FATA region as means of securing border."

Bajwa stated that the IBOs provided necessary input for bursting terrorist networks.

"IBOs led to information pertaining to movement of terrorists from Torkham to Mardan. Three suicide jackets along with other ammunition were caught from the terrorists. They had planned to bomb the National Bank of Pakistan and Police Lines. Intelligence efforts has led to aversion of 14 such incidents."

Bajwa said that Pakistan has projected stance in Germany where COAS Raheel Sharif addressed the US Centcom conference and highlighted Pakistan’s contribution to anti-terrorism efforts in internal and external context. "Success of Zarb-e-Azb and  emergence of Pakistan as highest contributor to UN peacekeeping efforts re-instates Pakistan’s position," he maintained. 

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa has said that it is regrettable that Pakistan was blamed soon after Uri attack without any evidence having surfaced. He said the information about terrorist attacks have been shared with the International Security Assistance Force, the Afghan government, army and intelligence. The DG ISPR said security forces have established twenty check posts along the Pak- Afghan border to control cross border movement of terrorists.

To a question, he said the return of Temporarily Displaced Persons of FATA will be completed by November this year.

He said so far seventy-five percent TDPs have gone back to their native areas and the reconstruction and rehabilitation is also in progress.
