KARACHI - A member of senior citizens Committee of Sunni Rehbar Council (SRC) was gunned down in an incident of target killing at Qatar Mor, Orangi Town in the limits of Iqbal Market police station on Tuesday. SHO Iqbal Market police station Haji Liaquat said that the incident took place near Abuzar Ghafari Mosque, Orangi Town Sector 111/2 where the victim Muhammad Farooq, 45 son of Muhammad Yousuf was sitting in Madina Electronic shop. He said two unidentified pillion riders entered the shop and sprayed several bullets on him and fled. He said that the culprits used 9mm pistols and police have found several empty shells from the crime scene. The victim sustained bullet injuries who was immediately shifted to a local private hospital and later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, he added. He said the victim was the father of two children and member of Sunni Rehbar Council. He was residing just beside the Abuzar Ghafari Mosque. While condemning the incident, Sunni Tehreek leader (ST) Shahid Ghouri said that the victim was the resident of the same area and the worker of ST. He alleged that a banned religious outfit was involved in this murder. The assailants basically wanted to kill his brother Abdul Rauf who is the active worker of ST. Ghouri further said, We know the murderers of Muhammad Farooq and Sunni Tehreek will announce their strategy as soon as possible. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
