QUETTA - At least two people, including one security personnel, were killed and five others wounded when unidentified armed men targeted a wagon with sophisticated weapons near Rakhni area of Barkhan district, on Friday.
According to Levies Force sources, the wagon was heading towards Barkhan from Loralai. As it reached near Rakhni, some unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire on it from nearby mountains.
“Two occupants, including Hasnain, a security personnel, and Syed Muhammad, a civilian, were killed on the spot and five others, including three security personnel, received serious wounds in the attack,” sources said. They added that dead and injured were shifted to a state-run hospital in Rakhni.
The three injured security personnel were identified as Fawad Umar, Abdul Aziz and Rab Nawaz while the civilians were identified as Pervez Ahmed and Allah Dita. The assailants fled after targeting the wagon. “Condition of some injured is stated to be serious,” sources said.
Levies Force personnel and other law-enforcement agencies reached the site after the incident and started a search operation in the area to trace out the attackers. However, the motive behind the attack could not be ascertained. Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack.
