ISLAMABAD- Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting on electricity issues held in PM House today and directed the Ministry of Water and Power to have zero tolerance towards theft of electricity and to speed up the recovery process.
The PM was given a detailed briefing about electricity theft issues and performance of power Distribution Companies (DISCOS) in recoveries of dues. He was also briefed about the electricity load management plan. The PM directed that all efforts be made, including best management, so that consumers face minimum possible inconvenience during the current season. It was also decided that a comprehensive energy conservation plan would be developed and executed after consultation with all stake-holders including traders, manufacturers and retailers to save electricity. Minister for Water & Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister of State for Water & Power Mr. Abid Sher Ali and senior officers attended the meeting.
