720 file nominations for GB elections

GILGIT - As many as 720 candidates on Monday filed their nomination papers for the 24 constituencies of the provincial assembly elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Sources of Chief Election Commissioner said that the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly [GBLA] elections were scheduled for June 8 and around 617,305 people will cast their vote.
Sources of Chief Election Commissioner said that scrutiny of nomination papers by returning officers (ROs) would be held from April 28 to May 04, filing of appeals against decision of returning officers rejecting /accepting the nomination papers on May 08, decision on appeals by tribune on May 15, last date for withdrawal of papers on May 16, final list of candidates on May 17.
Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan [G-B] has set up 1022 polling stations to facilitate the voters to cast their ballot.
At least 119 polling stations have been declared most sensitive and 153 polling stations declared sensitive.
Army would be put on high alert for 119 sensitive polling stations for the maintenance of law and order and G-B scout would be put on high alert for 153 sensitive polling stations. Polling station would be handed over to Army if required.
