KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah publicly vented his anger at Rangers and Karachi Corps Commander over the arrest of Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) Chairman Dr Asim Hussain over charges of corruption today.
“I called DG Rangers today and told him that he was working under my command,” Shah told media persons after opening Shaheed Nusrat Bhutto Underpass in Karachi.
“I was made in-charge of targeted operation by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and PPP leadership,” he maintained.
DG Rangers has shared some evidence, but it is good enough to arrest Dr Asim Hussain, he said, adding that he (Rangers) should have informed me prior to the arrest. The chief minister further said that he also called Karachi Corps Commander to convey his disappointment.
Shah said that he told Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that the federal government was invading Sindh. “It is an invasion of Sindh. We are being targeted by the federal government,” he said.
He expressed the hope that there was some realization at the leadership level, saying that Dr Asim Hussain will be freed honorably. “FIA will also go back in a few days,” he said.
The chief minister said that he was directly held responsible by the PPP leadership for this situation.
