PESHAWAR - Sub-Inspector Badhabera Police Station Mursalin Khan was killed when unknown persons attacked a police patrolling team in Badhabera, area in the outskirts of Peshawar, on Tuesday.
Sources said the police mobile was on routine patrolling in the early morning of Tuesday when unidentified persons ambushed a police vehicle in Mossazai area of Badhabera Police Station. They said they opened fire on the police, leaving Sub-Inspector Mursalin seriously injured. They said he was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Soon after the attack heavy contingent of police rushed the site and started search operation, but the attackers had managed to escape. The funeral prayer of Sub-Inspector Mursalin Khan was offered in Police Line Peshawar, which was attended by high-ranking police officers. After the funeral prayer, the dead body of the martyred police cop was dispatched to his ancestral graveyard in Sir Derai area of district Charsadda, where he was laid to rest with official distinction.
Mursalin Khan was born in Kaliyat village of district Charsadda and got recruited in police in 1986 as a constable. In 1998, he was promoted as head constable and in 2005 as Assistant Sub-Inspector. He was promoted in 2008 as Sub-Inspector. He remained in-charge of Inqilab Police post in Badhabera. He bravely served Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and several times participated in encounters against militants and criminal gangs. He embraced martyrdom at the age of 45.
