SHEIKHUPURA – Intra-PTI elections were marred due to scuffle between party’s two rival groups here the other day.
According to details, PTI elections were in progress between former MNA Saeed Virk group and former PTI District President Dr Ashraf Ghumman Group for the slot of president, general secretary, finance secretary and other posts.
During balloting, Dr Ashraf Ghumman raised objection that Chairman Election Commission Zulqarnain Dogar and his henchmen were involved in rigging and favoring the Saeed Group.
The remarks led to a scuffle between the activists of two groups. Beside fits and kicks fight, the activists also resorted to aerial firing, causing panic and harassments among the PTI activist.
The local police, however, remained a silent spectator over hooliganism and firing incidents.
The matter was brought into notice of the PTI high-up s in Lahore who directed to postpone the election. The party elections are now expected on February 28. The trader community and social circle in the city deplored the incident, saying that how a party could unite the country that itself lacked the unity.
LAWYER BOOKED: The city B-Division Police have registered a case under section 395/427, 506/186,148/149 and 7 ATA against a lawyer on the charges of interfering in court matters, passing insulting remarks against female judge and court staff and displaying weapon. According to details, a lawyer Umer Sharif Wahla presented in the court of Judge Irum Sharif Janjua and approached her reader to seek information about any case. The reader Allah Ditta replied that the case was not in the court.
Upon which, the lawyer became infuriated and resorted to abusive language, erupting disturbance in the courtroom and escaped after taking necessary files with him.
After the incident, President District Bar Association MB Tahir Advocate convened an emergent meeting to discuss the situation.
 meeting unanimously passing the resolution suspended the member ship of the said lawyer and banned his entry into the barroom.
The meeting also expressed solidarity with the court and assured to extend all possible cooperation to the judiciary.
