SC dissatisfied with IB report


ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Friday while expressing dissatisfaction over the Intelligence Bureau (IB) report regarding Balochistan law and order directed the attorney general also to take the reports from Military Intelligence and Inter-Service Intelligence on Balochitan situation.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Pervaiz was hearing a Balochistan High Court Bar Association (BHCBA) petition against the incidents of target killing, kidnapping for ransom and overall poor law and order situation in the province. The Chief Justice said: “We are not satisfied with the report.”
Director (Legal) of IB submitted a report before the bench and said that it was a classified report, therefore, should not be shared with the petitioners.
Justice Khilji Arif Hussain said: “If you say then we consider it as classified otherwise the information given in the report has already been published in the newspapers.” The court directed the counsel for IB to submit the report at Registrar office. The Additional Advocate General Balochistan submitted report on behalf of the Special Branch. During the proceedings, the CJP again said: “We are considering to hear this case in Balochistan.”
President BHCBA Hadi Shakeel Ahmed had filed the petition and made Inspector General Police (IGP), Balochistan, IGs Frontier Corps Balochistan and Levies, heads of three top intelligence agencies, federal government through Ministry of Interior and provincial government through Chief Secretary and Home Secretary as respondents.
The case was adjourned till February 6.
