SIALKOT- The federal government has approved a project to establish a passport office at village Jajjey here.
This is the native village of Rehman Malik, the interior minister. Rehman Malik’s younger brother Khalid Malik told the media that the federal government had issued a notification in this regard. This new passport office would become functional till the end of the current month.
It would be the third regional passport office in Sialkot. Earlier, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, the federal minister for national regulation and services, established a regional passport office at her native village Koobay Chak-Bajwat near Sialkot for facilitating the people of her constituency.
It would be the third regional passport office being established in Sialkot district on political grounds. The post of assistant director has been lying vacant for the last eight months at the Regional Passport Office Sialkot.
