Militants kidnap five miners in Quetta

QUETTA - Unidentified armed men on Tuesday kidnapped five coal miners in Sorenge area of Quetta.
According to police sources, armed men kidnapped seven miners belonging to the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation in the area. The kidnappers later freed two coal miners and took the other five abductees to nearby mountains.
Chief mines inspector Balochistan Iftikhar Ahmed said that five coal miners were still with kidnappers. Personnel of Frontier Corps (FC) and police reached the site and launched a search operation to recover the hostages. There was no claim of responsibility for the kidnapping. The kidnappers also burnt electricity generator in the mines during kidnapping incident.
3kg explosives recovered
in Naseerabad
Three kilogram explosives were recovered from Shoaib Checkpost in Naseerabad area of Balochistan.
Security of the area was beefed up. Sources of FC said bomb disposal squad defused the exploding devices. The area was cordoned off by security forces. No one has been taken into custody so far. In Naseerabad, a time device was placed alongside a road which exploded when a van passed by killing five people and injuring another.

The Afghan Border Police Commandant Lt General Shafiq Fazli held a meeting with Commander Southern Command Lt General Nasir Janjua in Quetta on Tuesday. According to ISPR, matters pertaining to border security and bilateral interest came under discussion at the meeting.
Father, son shot dead over old
enmity in Bolan
Armed men gunned down two persons including father and son over old rivalry here on Tuesday.
Levies sources said that armed accused ambushed members of rival group in Bala Narri area in district Bolan of Balochistan. As a result, two persons stated to be father and son died on the spot.
The assailants fled the scene after committing the double murder while the bodies were shifted to hospital where they were handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities.
Police have registered a case against the murderers and started conducting raids for their arrest.
