400 lax teachers shown the door

MIRPUR (AJK)

The AJK government has suspended at least 400 teachers of various public sector schools located in different parts of AJK following their extremely poor performance shown in the Annual Secondary School Certificate Examinations results.
This was disclosed by Secretary Schools, AJK government Raja Abbas Khan while addressing a ceremony held here on Friday to unveil the names of the successful students securing positions in the Annual Secondary School Certificate Examinations (Part-II-Composite) - 2015 held under the auspices of AJK Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
"It is for the first time in the history of AJK that 400 government school teachers faced the music of their suspension from service on account of their extremely poor performance in their professional duties," Khan underlined. It may be added that contrary to the poor performance of the public-sector educational institutions in the examination, renowned private-sector Kashmir Model College Mirpur clinched exceptional distinction securing 10 out of top 20 positions in the examination in entire AJK.
The ceremony was also addressed among others by Secretary Higher Education Mahmood Ahmed, AJK BISE Chairman Zaheer Chaudhry, Secretary Shahid Munir Jiraal, Ziaullah Joshi and the Controller Examination.
The Secretary schools expressed severe dismay over the rapid decline in dispensation of the quality education by the state-run schools and colleges in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
He particularly regretted over the poor result of the matriculation students of the government-controlled schools. "It is sad that only one student of a government school out of a total of 878 schools across AJK secured a position in the matriculation examination (Part-II-Composite) - 2015 announced," Abbas Khan said.
He continued that it was a matter of grave concern for the government over the rapid decline in quality of education as an only student of a public sector school gained the position in entire AJK in the board's exam.
Abbas Khan said that the poor performance of the government-run schools was always a matter of embracement for the government as public sector schools always fell behind to show their performance as compare to their contemporaries running in the private sector.
The secretary schools said that the process of impeachment of the government school teachers has been started to bring them to justice through an inquiry over their poor performance during the course of their professional duties. He added that an inquiry has been started into the poor performance of 400 of the suspended teachers who showed zero percent results of their students.
"The government cannot afford zero percent performance of the students of the public-sector educational institutions in AJK at any cost," the secretary said. Abbas Khan categorically declared that the government has decided never to compromise on below-60 percent result in the state-run schools.
He pointed out that in the light of the findings of the inquiry committee, stringent action would be initiated against the suspended teachers including their dismissal from service. He emphasised a need for giving due attention on rapid progress-based education to produce quality future architects of the nation.
The secretary felicitated the position holders, their parents, teachers and heads of their respective educational institutions, mostly private schools, for securing distinctions in the results of the examination.
