Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim on Thursday met political leaders in Balochistan and reviewed law and order situation to ensure free‚ fair and peaceful general elections.
Along with four members of the Commission, the CEC chaired a meeting of senior officials wherein Secretary Balochistan gave a briefing on prevailing security situation in the province.
On the occasion, senior officials of law enforcement agencies briefed the meeting on security arrangements during forthcoming general elections.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians‚ PML-N‚ Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf‚ Jamaat-e-Islami‚ Awami National Party, PML-Q, National Party‚ Balochistan National Party Awami‚ Balochistan National Party Mengal‚ Hazara Democratic Party‚ Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party‚ JUI-F‚ JUI-Nazriati and others.
In his briefing, Secretary Balochistan Akbar Durrani told that FC and the army would remain posted in Balochistan during the election. He held out assurance that the provincial government would remain impartial though out the electoral process.
Earlier, the CEC held a meeting with the caretaker CM Barozai and discussed different issues including the law and order situation in the province.
The CM Barozai noted that he will do his utmost to remove the reservations of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) Chief Akhtar Mengal in a meeting with him.
