Punjab Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana has said that the health, education, sewerage and water projects are on his top priority.
Talking to the media persons here on Wednesday, he added that work on a Women University, Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University and Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology had begun while efforts were being made to get BZU’s engineering college accreditation in three months. He said that he would try to get the projects of Museum and Safari Park in Multan executed while PTV Multan station would be upgraded. He said that a new transport culture would be introduced to the region with Metro Bus Project while industry and technical education would be promoted for ending unemployment in the region.
Earlier, the governor asked the people’s representatives in the assemblies to play their role for recovery of dues from the Mepco defaulters. He directed Mepco officials to give facility of instalments to the defaulters. He lamented that the government made huge investment on power generation but the consumers did not pay their bills. He asked Mepco chief to provide list of defaulters to the respective members of assemblies .
Separately chairing a meeting to review law and order situation in Multan range, the governor said that the existing police culture needed to be changed as the people faced severe inconvenience in getting their FIRs registered. He directed police officers to behave well with the citizens and refrain from dragging innocent persons into fake cases.
He said that the issues like shortage of force and need for improvement in infrastructure and buildings for police stations would be brought into the notice of the Punjab chief minister to get funds. He directed police officers to take strict action against land grabbers, extortionists, drug paddlers, water and power thieves as well as their supporters in the force. He directed MDA and TMAs to refrain from approving housing colonies without green belts, roads and masjids as qabza mafias took birth because of such colonies. He said that the good governance of any government was subject to the performance of police and therefore we needed to boost the morale of police.
