Nisar, Shehbaz exchange views on important matters with COAS

Rawalpindi: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif met Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif and exchanged views on country’s security situation, US drone attack in Balochistan and success of Zarb-e-Azb against terrorism.

According to sources, the army chief enquired about the health of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.  He was told that the prime minister will undergo a heart surgery on Tuesday in London. The army chief prayed for early health recovery of the prime minister.

According to sources, Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif had reached the Islamabad airport from Lahore while Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was already there to receive him. Both the leaders boarded in a helicopter and went to the GHQ.

During the meeting, which lasted for more than two hours at the GHQs here on Saturday, other important issues were also discussed. The army chief also expressed concern over the recent US drone attack in Balochistan and termed it violation of the country’s solidarity and autonomy.

General Raheel Sharif also took both the leaders into confidence regarding his recent meeting with US Ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale.        

Chaudhry Nisar told the army chief that the meeting of Cabinet Defence Committee would be held after return of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in which important matter will be discussed.
