AJK SCBA deplores lawyers manhandling in Islamabad

The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association here on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged manhandling of lawyers by the police during a demonstration in front of the Supreme Court of Pakistan building in Islamabad.
Talking to newsmen here Wednesday evening, AJK SCBA President Raja Fazal Hussain Rabbani said, "it was a tragic incident that the respectable legal fraternity from different parts of the country was met with the maltreatment like third-degree formula by the federal capital police in form of severe baton charge and tear-gas in front of the Supreme Court building in Islamabad where they had gathered to raise voice for their long standing reasonable demands for the establishment of the benches of the Lahore High Court in Gujranwala, Sargodha, DG Khan and other division of Punjab province.
Rabbani said that the innocent lawyers had came before the SC building just to apprise CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Ch of their demand for the LHC divisional benches.
The AJK SCBA president fully supported the early accomplishment of the demand and called for a high level probe into the incident of violent clash between police and the demonstrating lawyers which also caused some damage to the doors and windowpanes of the Supreme Court of Pakistan building.
He also suggested bringing the miscreants, responsible for loss to public property at the Supreme Court building to justice besides taking a stringent disciplinary action against the officials of the law enforcement agencies involved in the manhandling of the lawyers in the incident.
