Tarar replaces booked DPO

SHEIKHUPURA - Sheikhupura District Police Officer Humayon Bashir Tarar has resumed the additional charge of DPO Nankana Sahib after the suspension of Muntazir Mehdi by the Punjab inspector general of police on court orders.
Mehdi, along with SHO City Farmaish Ali, and Investigation Officer Maqbool Ahmad, were suspended from services and booked for dereliction of duty in a case of rape committed against a dumb and deaf girl.
As per the case details, on October 14, six accused two of them identified and nominated in FIR as Muzammal and Mudassar had gang raped the married woman who was a resident of Shadbagh Colony Nankana Sahib. The relatives of the victim had approached the court indicating the police negligence for not arresting the accused even a DNA test was not carried out by the concerned police.  The court took a serious notice and directed the IG police to take an action against the policemen. The IGP under the court direction suspended the officials and ordered registration of a case against the cops in city Nankana police station. However, the accused are still at large. The Sheikhupura DPO was directed by the IGP to resume the duty as Nankana DPO also.
