LAHORE - PTI chairman Imran Khan claimed that his party would launch the biggest movement against the elections rigging on November 30.
Addressing a health conference organised by Pakistan Medical Association at a local hotel here Thursday, Imran said the PTI was the first political force that raised voice against the rigging and pursuing a campaign to reform the electoral process, as true representatives could not be elected without an independent electoral mechanism.
He said PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari had told him that the 2013 General Elections were managed by the returning officers in favour of the ruling party but at the same time he (Zardari) also said the PML-N government should remain in power. He added that Maulana Fazalur Rehman and Asfand Yar Wali also endorsed his charges of rigging in 2013 polls but hesitated to support the PTI.
Imran remarked that the rulers, who came to power through a rigged election, could not resolve issues being faced by the country and masses. He said that developed countries fix big allocations for health and education, as without focusing these two major departments no country could progress.
He added that child patients are being bitten by rats in public hospitals and public sector schools even lack the basic facilities for imparting education.
Meanwhile, PTI Punjab president, Ijaz Chaudhry addressing a news conference said that formal invitations have been extended to the leadership of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen and Sunni Ittehad Council for participation in the PTI’s protest on November 30.
He said that the PTI’s district and tehsil leaders are being summoned by the police stations concerned for harassment. The police officers are of view that the party leaders and workers are being contacted for their possible connections to the attack on PTV in Islamabad.
He claimed that the Punjab government was warning the transporters for cancelling their licenses and route permits if they provided their services to ferry the PTI supporters to Islamabad on November 30. He said that he would lead a caravan from Punjab through GT Road to D-Chowk, Islamabad to take part in November 30 protest demonstration of Azadi drive.
