SIALKOT - The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) reopened unprovoked firing on Sialkot border villages in Charwah and Harpal sectors of Working Boundary here on Thursday.
According to senior officials of the Chenab Rangers, the Indian BSF targeted civilian population and also fired heavy mortar shells, damaging several houses. Some of the mortar shells fired by Indian BSF fell into the fields and did not explode.
The Indian shelling on the Sialkot border areas lasted about half an hour, which created panic among the people. The Chenab Rangers responded instantly and silenced Indian guns. No loss of life or injury was reported, the senior CR officials confirmed.
