JHANG - Punjab Minister Usher and Zakat Malik Kamran Nadeem has said that the second phase of payment of financial assistance amounting to Rs8.6 billion to the flood victims under the historic package is continued in a transparent manner. He disclosed this, while addressing the participants of a ceremony held to distribute blanket and other essential items of daily-use at Government Girls College here the other day.
“In first phase, at least 73,000 flood-hit people were compensated and in second phase at least Rs8.6 billion are being distributed among 250,000 flood affectees.
He said that there was no other example in the history of country of payment of compensation to flood-hit people so speedily. He said that the promise to enable the flood-affected people to stand on their own feet had been fulfilled. He said that the elements staging sit-ins had shown worst apathy by leaving the flood affectees alone in their hour of need and they also hatched conspiracy to get the visit of Chinese President and other international leaders postponed. He said that PTI Chief Imran Khan had tarnished the image of the country for which the nation would never forget him.
He said that like the payment of first instalment, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was also supervising the payment of second instalment of financial assistance to the calamity-hit people and no deserving person would remain deprived of his right. He said that financial assistance was being distributed among flood affectees on the basis of a transparent survey of damage to houses and crops.
He said that in third phase of the rehabilitation of flood-affected people, the government was providing blankets and all other essential items to them. He said that Punjab government had provided 4,400 blanket for the flood affectees of Jhang district out of which 1,500 blankets in Tehsil Jhang, 1,500 blankets in Tehsil Atharan Hazari, 900 blankest in Tehsil Ahmedpur Sial and 500 blankets in Tehsil Shorkot would distributed. He said that the Punjab government would not take rest till the rehabilitation of last flood affectees.
Punjab Forest Secretary Shair All Mehsood, DCO Raja Khurram Shehzad Umer and all heads of other departments were present also present on the occasion.
