LAHORE: The Lahore High Court today issued notice to the federal government to submit reply in a petition challenging ban on exhibition of film ‘Malik’ in different cinemas across the country. Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza of the LHC passed the order and adjourned further hearing until May 17. A lawyer Mehboob Alam filed the petition and submitted that film ‘Malik’ had discussed the issue of corruption and social issues. He stated that film neither was against the sovereignty of the state nor it was against the social values but despite that the government had banned exhibition of film in cinemas across the country. Film was made for reformation of social values, he said. He further said any movie or drama made for the social development cannot be banned. The petitioner requested the court to set aside the notification banning exhibition of movie.
