MULTAN - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi Tuesday called for formation of an impartial interim government with the consultation of all parliamentary and out of parliament political parties for holding general elections in the country.
Addressing a news conference here at his residence, Hashmi added that the interim government must not have any interest in contesting election or related to those vying for seats. He categorically declared that impartial and just elections were not possible in presence of President Asif Ali Zardari. He alleged that the process of buying loyalties of people had started before upcoming polls which was highly condemnable.
Answering a question on interim government, he said that instead of consulting Chief Election Commissioner, all political parties of the country should be gathered at one place to decide this issue. “The motive behind this practice should be to bring such people forth who don’t contest election and hold the polls in minimum possible time,” he added. He warned that the more election would be delayed, the more dangerous it would be for the country and political parties.
He asserted that the general elections must be held immediately as it was the only way to protect the country from irreparable harm. He said that both the ruling parties - PPP and Nawaz-League put national security at stake but the tsunami of masses would eliminate this ruling class from Islamabad under the leadership of Imran Khan. He declared that the Tsunami of PTI would snatch throne through vote.
He claimed that both the PML-N and PPP had finalized the names of their prospective prime minister for the next term but it was only the PTI that gave the right to the masses to decide the name.
He claimed that neither of the PPP or the PML-N made any effort for the creation of new provinces during last four and a half years and now the Takht-e-Lahore was losing ground. “Now both the parties are making noise on the issue of forming commission for provinces just to conceal their ineligibility and poor performance,” he added.
Referring to the economic reforms programme of PTI, he claimed that the PTI could make the country stand on its own feet within five years without printing new currency notes or getting loans through this programme. “It’s regrettable that Ahsan Iqbal alleges us of stealing their programme. How can a party protect this country that cannot protect its programmes from others?” he posed a question.
He said that he could not keep silent on police torture on PTI workers in Lahore and therefore he openly criticized the rulers of Punjab. “I am also being criticized but if my words hurt anyone I am sorry for that,” he announced. He said that the Punjab Chief Minister approved establishment of a medical city in Makhdoom Rasheed but instead the land was handed over to Qabza Groups and police were deployed for their protection. “But I don’t want to lodge any protest on this issue or make any lament.”
