LAKKI MARWAT - Many state-run middle schools in the district have been facing shortage of furniture for teachers and jute mats for students for the last couple of years.
It was disclosed at a meeting of middle schools' headmasters held at the District Council Hall on Thursday. Deputy District Education Officer Muhammad Sheeraz Khan presided over the meeting where ADO (PE&S) Nisar Muhammad was also in the attendance.
The school heads told the meeting that furniture and jute mats were the basic needs and their shortage had confronted them, teachers and students with numerous problems.
They also revealed that the students of grade eight in several middle schools had not been provided with the textbooks of new course so far.
Speaking at the meeting DDEO Sheeraz said that the department had made additional demand of textbooks from the relevant higher quarters and that the students would get books of new course in next week. He assured that he would bring the problem of shortage of furniture and jute mats into the notice of district education officer so as to equip the middle schools with basic facilities.
Sheeraz also directed the headmasters to vacate their respective schools from IDPs and launch academic and teaching and learning activities with full swing from September 1.
He also directed that damages caused by IDPs to school buildings and other infrastructures should be communicated to the district education office without any delay.
The Deputy District Education Officer asked the headmasters to ensure transparent utilisation of PTC funds, saying that all-out efforts will be made to enforce uniform syllabus and school hours in letter and spirit. He added that presence of substitute/proxy employees in schools would not be tolerated, besides the absent teachers and class four employees would face stern disciplinary action.
