The funeral for two policemen, who were shot dead at a checkpoint on Mondka Road, some 12-km from here, was offered at District Police Lines here on Saturday.
The valiant cops embraced martyrdom after unidentified armed men opened fire at the checkpost late the other night.
Dera Ghazi Khan RPO Abdul Qadir Qayyum, DCO Farasat Iqbal, DPO Usman Akram Gondal, ASP City Rao Arif Aslam, MNA Jamshad Dasti, MPA Hamad Nawaz Tipu, President City Press club Dr Khalid Mehmood Zaffar Chaudhry, Chairman Electronic Media Rana Sheraz Bashir, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Syed Amir Hussain Shah and a large numbers of notables attended the funeral.
Meanwhile, the DIG paid tributes to the services and commitment of the slain policemen. He also directed that the heirs of the martyred policemen be provided all the dues and departmental incentives. The DIG reiterated that the police operation against criminals and terrorists would continue with the same zeal and commitment till the achievement of desired objectives.
It is to be noted that a police party signalled a suspected car at a picket near Shah Jamal Road Bypass; but the car-riders recklessly sprayed bullets on the police personnel, killing two of them instantly while two others sustained injuring.
