PESHAWAR - The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday stayed collection of fuel adjustment charges in the electricity bills from consumers of KP, directing the Pesco and Nepra to deduct the charges from electricity bills within 10 days.
A two-member PHC bench, comprising Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth, heard the petitions of 66 industries of KP against the collection of fuel adjustment charges in the electricity bills.
The petitioners contended that the Nepra and Pesco were fleecing the consumers. The court directed the Nepra, Pepco, Pesco, Water and Power Ministry and Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to explain under which provision of law or policy the fuel adjustment charges were applicable in the KP. The bench adjourned the case for third week of March.
