YDA, students give 7 days for demands acceptance

RAWALPINDI - The Young Doctors Association (YDA) and medical students of Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) on Tuesday have given a seven-day deadline to Punjab government to fulfill four-point agenda or else they would observe complete strike in government-run hospitals, besides creating agitation in the whole province.
The four-point agenda, which was presented during a massive protest demo, included to sack University of Health Sciences (UHS) Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Mubashir; review the recently announced results; evacuate medical girls hostel from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and not to fail the medical students in the subject of behavioral sciences as it was not approved by Pakistan Dental and Medical Association (PDMA).
According to details, more than 300 male and female students of RMC along with YDA Rawalpindi office-bearers assembled outside RMC and took out a protest rally.
They enraged protestors reached Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club (RIPC) while marching on Benazir Bhutto Road (BBR) blocking it completely for two way traffic causing hardships for commuters as well as pedestrians.
They held a protest demo, led by YDA Punjab Chairman Dr Haroon, after reaching outside the press club. While carrying banners and placards mentioning words in favor of their demands and against Punjab Health Department, the protestors bellowed full-throated slogans against VC UHS and Punjab government.
YDA District Chairman Dr Abbas Malik, President Dr Umer Saeed, Senior Vice President Dr Asma and Joint Secretary Dr Junaid Abbasi were prominent among the other protestors. The speakers, while addressing the protestors, condemned the erroneous policies of UHS VC and demanded his earlier oust from his office. They said that VC was illegally granted extension for the third time. They said that the paper of Behavioral Sciences was not only out of course but also full with technical faults owing to which the carrier of thousands of students have been put of stake. They said that the university should also review the results. They said that the girls hostel should also be get evacuated from the NAB’s custody as scores of female medical students facing accommodation difficulties.
They said that they have brought the whole matter in the notice of Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif in written and would hold protest demo in whole province besides observing strike in all hospitals if Punjab government failed to mitigate their problems.
