CCI postpones census announcement

The Council of Common Interests (CCI) has yet again postponed the census announcement, Waqt News reported. The census will be conducted after collaborative consent by all the provinces, according to reports.

CCI met today under the chair of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in its 29th meeting. The next meeting will be conducted on March 25th in which all the involving entities will participate to reach on common result. After the meeting, the new date for census will be announced.

Pakistan had its last census in 1998 in which the population of Pakistan was estimated to be 160 million. Since then no government has conducted the census in the country and population is being estimated according to United Nations reports and private surveys.
