PESHAWAR - Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-ePakistan, a newly emerged political party, has decided to field it candidates for the provincial and national assemblies seats in the upcoming general elections. The Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan (movement for protection of Pakistan), founded by renowned nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, is a new political force in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country, said Hafiz Irfanuddin, the party’s provincial head, while speaking at a news conference on Monday.Flanked by the party provincial Deputy Convener Arbab Shahnawaz Khan and Convener, district Peshawar, Arbab Noorullah, he said their party would field its candidates to contest on both provincial and national assemblies seats in the upcoming general elections. He also informed that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) allotted them ‘missile’ as a party symbol for election.Irfan further said that their party has been organised at district level, while the process in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will soon be completed. More than 70,000 people have so far registered their names in the ongoing party membership campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he claimed. He also informed that the party central leadership has also established two wings in the party, including Tehreek Youth wing and Tehreek Students Wing.Explaining party manifesto, Irfan said that if Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan was voted in the upcoming general elections, it would steer the country out of the prevailing crises while resolving law and order problem and economic crunch. He vowed that after coming into power establishment of sustainable peace, ending culture of heritory politics, ethic-linguistic trends, and other addressal of major issues like unemployment, poverty would be the top priority of the party leadership. Irfan maintained that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has practically stepped in the active politics after establishment of his political party. TTP is the only driving force to pull the country out of existing crisis like situation, he claimed. The party provincial leaders have asked the masses to vote their party in the upcoming general elections to bring a real change in the country.Meanwhile, the Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) on Monday distributed non-food relief items among 258 poor and needy families in Aasia Gate community in the city. The relief items including sweaters, gloves, woollen shawls and caps distributed in an event arranged by the administration of the Government-run school, sited in Aasia Gate. Pakistan Muslim Leagure-Nawaz (PML-N) general secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra was chief guest at the event where other local elders and political personalities were also present.Iqbal Zafar Jhagra along with Shahid Yusaf, Chief Executive of the PEI and Pakistan’s Honorary Investment Counsellor at Vancouver Canada and Tayyab Hussain, PEI Programme Implementation Expert distributed the relief items among the underprivileged families.
