ISLAMABAD - The opposition parties have geared up activities for finalising the name for caretaker prime minister with JUI-F comes up with another two names in response to the half dozen names proposed by the PML-N, JI is still in the consultation process while PTI is yet to be approached for the purpose.Sources aware of the developments on this front informed TheNation that Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly (NA), the main consultee in the process from opposition side, is busy contacting even those parties which have no representation in the Parliament and would complete the exercise in a next few days. Sources further said that he had already contacted the nationalists from Balochistan and Sindh in this connection.However, according to the official spokesman of PTI they were not approached by the PML-N for the purpose while PML-N leaders said that they would soon contact Imran Khan to have his input in this crucial matter.When some of the coalition partners of the government including Awami National Party (ANP) was contacted they simply said that they have nothing to do with the consultation process on the subject by the Leader of Opposition as they would give their input on the matter to Leader of House who after evolving consensus among the coalition partners would approach Leader of Opposition to finalise the name of caretaker PM.“It is not appropriate to comment on the name of opposition part (PML-N)...We after consultation would give name to Leader of House/PM,” said Awami National Party (ANP) senior legislator Haji Adil, talking to TheNation.When contacted, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hassan said JI is deliberating on names for caretaker PM and soon after finalisation give names to PML-N. “We have almost reached to semi-final session and final session is not too far in this regard, “ Munawar Hasan said, adding that they would also suggest names beyond the list proposed by PML-N.Another JI senior leader Liaqat Baloch said that his party is deliberating on the names proposed by PML-N. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will give names of all provincial assemblies names as well.Commenting on names proposed by PML-N, he was of the view that three names Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Ataullah Mengal and Asma Jhangir are no more in the race of caretaker PM now.While, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) senior leader Abdul Ghafor Haideri said they have proposed two names including Syed Fazal Agha and Mian Ajmal for caretaker PM to PML-N.When asked about PML-N’s proposed names, Haideri adopted almost concerns over two proposed by PML-N on this on this matter. “The names of Justice (R) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Justice (R) Shakirullah Jan have almost no more in the list due to different reasons,” JUI-F leader added. Another opposition party, PTI, has so far vehemently denied the claim made by Nisar and said no contact had been made with the party regarding the names for the caretaker prime minister.When contacted, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) spokesman Shafqat Mehmood said they were not contacted by PML-N as yet. “We are discussing the matter and finalize name in a week or so,” PTI leader said, refusing to comment on the names proposed by PML-N. However, PTI chief Imran Khan has extended reservation of the name of Asima Jhangir proposed by PML-N.While, PML-N spokesman Asim Khan Niazi said both Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Ataullah Mengal have yet not formally refused to his party. “We have proposed names to opposition parties but reached consensus with consultation of opposition parties,” he said, adding that opposition parties would also take some time to suggest their names.It is relevant to mention here that the names which PML-N suggested for caretaker prime minister are Asima Jahangir, Justice (R) Ajmal Mian, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Ataullah Mengal, Justice (R) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Justice (R) Shakirullah Jan. Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has forwarded to opposition parties the names of six candidates for the caretaker prime ministers position.Ch. Nisar told has said that he had contacted the Jamaat-i-Islami’s (JI) Syed Munawwar Hasan, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao of the PPP-Sherpao, Salim Saifullah of the PML (Likeminded), the National Party’s (NP) Hasil Khan Bizenjo, and some for consultations over the caretaker government.The opposition leader has reportedly added that the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) had earlier sent the name of two candidates, however they withdrew those.
