Rickshaw stands being mulled to ease traffic mess

To facilitate citizens and regulate traffic system, the city district government is going to set up rickshaw stands at 12 spots in Multan. Sources said that the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal has issued order for preparation of feasibility report. According to details, the district administration intends to establish three stands at Vehari Chowk on different spots, two at district courts, one each at Chowk Gaddafi, Daewoo stand, Chowk Ghanta Ghar, Civil Hospital, Chowk Daulat Gate and Khooni Burj. Sources revealed that the concerned TMAs have been asked to prepare feasibility report for the project. Besides rickshaw stands, sheds and benches will be installed there to provide shelter and sitting facility to the citizens.
CLEAN-UP OPERATION: The district administration is going to launch a massive operation against encroachments and handcart pushers, declared Asif Ali Farrukh, EDO Community and Additional Director General of Multan Development Authority. Addressing a meeting of special price magistrates and officers of district administration here on Wednesday, he added that no one could be allowed to do business in the middle of the road. He said that the people would be allowed to do business only in eligible way and all those disturbing the flow of traffic would be dealt with sternly. He directed the price magistrates to check the rates of daily use items and edibles in other markets besides sahoolat bazaars. Taking serious notice of poor sanitation conditions, he directed the WASA and solid waste management officials to take quick action on public complaints and improve sanitation situation in the city.
