QRF cop, ‘terrorist’ killed in gunbattle

A person of the Quick Response Force (QRF) was martyred and a suspected terrorist killed while three cops sustained critical wounds in shootout here in the People’s Colony Police precincts on Tuesday. The police also managed to arrest an alleged terrorist and his two accomplices fled the scene.
Police source said that a QRF team was on patrol in People’s Colony when they spotted four suspects in a car outside Hotel One.
As the QRF team reached near to the car, the suspected terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the cops. Resultantly, constable Muhammad Haseebur Rehman, 28, was martyred on the spot while three other constables including Ghulam Mustafa, Shoaib and Zeeshan sustained bullet injuries. However, the police retaliated and a shootout erupted which continued for quite some time, killing an unidentified terrorist while the police managed to caught another.
However, two of the suspected terrorists escape from the scene. The police recovered two Kalashnikovs, four pistols, 17 hand grenades and huge quantity of bullets from the car. On receiving information of the incident, heavy police contingent, Faisalabad RPO Ehsan Tufail and CPO Afzal Kausar rushed to the spot. The RPO also visited the hospital where he enquired after the injured policemen.
On the other hand, the police team was set up to interrogate the arrested suspect. The police have launched a manhunt for the escaped suspects and have established special picket ups across the city. The RPO also announced Rs0.3 million cash prize for the person who would inform the police about the escaped outlaws. RPO Ehsan Tufail while talking to the mediamen said that the policemen foiled possible terror attempt by sacrificing their lives.
It is to be noted that Peoples Colony is the posh area of the textile city where biggest shopping markets including D Ground and Kohinoor plazas are situated. The police have started investigation to ascertain identity of the outlaws and their links with any terror outfits. According to the doctors, condition of the injured constable Zeeshan is critical.
