Balochistan Assembly okays Budget 2011-12

QUETTA - The Balochistan Assembly unanimously approved Rs128.71 billion Budget for FY 2010-11 here on Tuesday. Speaker Aslam Bhootani presided over the session wherein 50 demands of grants to the tune of Rs128.71 billion were adopted. The estimates for the development expenditures in budget are Rs31.35 billion while Rs97.35 billion has been earmarked for development expenditures. Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd presented 50 demands of grants in the House, which were okayed unanimously by the lawmakers. However, the budget for next year was approved in 40 minutes. The Balochistan government faced no criticism or difficulties while approving the budget as no opposition member turned up or brought any cut motion before the House. The Balochistan Assembly has single opposition leader Yar Mohammad Rind, who had not attended the sessions except one day. After the approval, all the members stood up and went to embrace the finance minister. Even in such moment when most of the members were busy gossiping, Speaker Bhootani asked the members to loudly say 'approved while Finance Minister tabling the demands of grants. 3 suffocated to death in Quetta Suffocated to death Three real brothers were suffocated to death in a well in the outskirts of Quetta on Tuesday. Police said three sons of Ghulam Muhammad Hazara were busy in cleaning a well in the Killi Kanrani of Marri Colony when it filled with poisonous gas. As a result, all three were suffocated to death. The deceased, identified as Ali Ahmed, Nisar Ahmed and Bashir Ahmed, were moved to Bolan Medical Hospital. Police after completing legal formalities handed over the bodies to heirs.
