FAISALABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan led a rally against the prolonged loadshedding.
Addressing the protesters, the cricketer-turned-politician urged traders and youth to be ready for a long march in Islamabad to vent their rage over the vexing power outages.
Khan came down hard on President Asif Ali Zardari for his Pakistan People’s Party-led government’s failure in catering to the challenges confronting the country. “Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf did not come to serve the masses. He was brought to serve Zardari indeed,” Khan said.
Taking a swipe at the Punjab government for - what he called - it shared the equal responsibility, he said:  “The Punjab government is also responsible for the power crisis in the province.”
“PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif should tell the people how much electricity bills he pays for his textile companies. He (Nawaz) is playing a fixed match (Noora Kushti) with the government as he is afraid of the PTI.”
Imran said Nawaz should not dream of becoming the PM for the third time.
He said: “Why does the PML-N act as a friendly opposition?”
Khan claimed Nawaz Sharif had called Zardari his brother said for three and half years.
Claiming that his party has solution to all the problems plaguing the county, he said the PTI was the future of the country and it would resolve all the issues.
Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
The PTI leaders wore black armbands to lodge their protest against the power crisis. A large number of PTI workers, locals and traders attended the rally.
MEGA PROJECT BEING EXECUTED: DCO Nasim Sadiq has said that several uplift projects are underway to make Faisalabad city pollution free under Green Faisalabad Project.
He said that various mega development projects were being launched by the district government to provide durable facilities to the masses in education, health, communications, social and economic sectors.
He was talking to media men here the other day. He said that the mega development projects including establishment of children hospital, construction of Abdullapur Chowk underpass, construction of GC University new campus, Girls colleges and two another general hospitals at the different localities of the city.
He said that a number of uplift schemes had been completed for the improvement of civic condition Faisalabad which was third largest city of the country and second biggest city of Punjab.
He said that Model Bazaar of international standard had been established on 13 acre land on Jhang Road
He said that GC University new campus would be completed at a cost of Rs5 billion. He said that construction work of widening of Canal Road at a cost of Rs900 million was going on speedily while 7 mini bypasses had already been constructed in the different areas of the city.
The DCO said that 32 water filtration plants would also be made functional during the current fiscal year.
He said that Kotwali Road had been widened for the smooth flow of traffic and parking had been established on the road.
He said that Rs8 billion had been spent by the district government during last two years for the completion of a number of the public welfare projects.
