JI chief blames federal, provincial governments for Karachi heatwave deaths

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has said that federal and provincial governments are equally responsible of ongoing killings of innocent people by heat stroke in Karachi.

The JI Ameer was talking to journalists during his visit to Al-Khidmat Water Filtration Plant located in Federal B Area, Block No 14 near Masjid-e-Rizwan.

He urged upon the federal government to immediately announce emergency in connection with the recent killings of innocent people by heat stroke in Karachi and to take effective measures for permanent solutions of water and power crisis.

He said that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif should visit Karachi on urgent basis and hold a cabinet meeting here in Karachi over the issues of the masses.

“I have been in Karachi for the last two to three days and also visited different hospitals to inquire about the health of the patients who have suffered a heat stroke and succumbed to death due to the lack of treatment”, Siraj-ul-Haq added.

He further said that the volunteers of Al-Khidmat were providing free of cost water supply from the filtration plant to the patients and also providing first aid to the heat stroke patients.

Apprising about the activities of Al-Khidmat, Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said that the Al-Khidmat has already setup the heat stroke camps outside Jinnah Hospital, Civil Hospital and Edhi Center, Sohrab Goth; adding that more than 2000 water coolers have been distributed among the patients of heat stroke.
