RAWALPINDI - Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Wednesday organised a poster competition in the Council to cerate awareness among the students against harms of drug usage.
The title of the poster competition was “Say No to Drugs” during which ANF Force Commander Regional Directorate Brig Faheem Ahmed Khan was the chief guest.
RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed, former RD Naheed Manzoor, artists, students of various educational institutions and people belonging to different walks of life were also present on the occasion.
Brig Faheem Ahmed Khan, Force Commander, Anti-Narcotics Force, Regional Directorate, Rawalpindi, while addressing, said that Islam prohibited the use of drugs at any case and its use was destroying our social values.
He said that the core purpose of this ceremony was to create awareness among educational institutions, teachers, parents and civil society against drug abuse.
He said that participation of all institutions in this noble and national cause was necessary to combat and make society drug-free. He added that although drugs threaten many societies yet their effects could also be combated successfully. “Drug abuse causes multiple problems for countries and communities. Addicts cannot function as normal members of society. The menace of drugs can be fought. Education is the first battle. Children need to be told at home and in school about drugs. People need to be aware of the effects so that they can be avoided” Brig said.
He also thanked the participants and RAC and hoped that cooperation would be continued in future also. RAC RD Waqar Ahmed said that the Council was always available for such kind of constructive activities. The competition was held in two separate categories. In school category, Mahnoor Khan and Ayaza Malik of Sir Syed School Wah Cantt secured first and second position respectively. The third position also went to Mahnoor Siddique the student of the same school while Duaa Ali from Sapient Hall School got fourth position. Similarly, in college category, the first prize was bagged by Amira Adil from Joint Staff College, Hina Ali from Government Degree College for Women F-Block, Satellite Town Rawalpindi secured second position, Sidra Kanwal from Rawalpindi Arts Council got third while Tahir Saleem also from Rwalpindi Arts Council remained fourth.
Cash prizes and certificates were given to the position holder students by the chief guest at the end of the ceremony.
