Centre asked to extend apex court’s jurisdiction to Fata

Peshawar - Provincial President of Qaumi Watan Party Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao asked the federal government to bring amendment in article 247 of the constitution in order to extend jurisdiction of High Court and Supreme Court to FATA.
He said this while addressing a joining ceremony of Malak Nowshad Khan and his family members to Qaumi Watan Party here at the Peshawar Press Club. Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao said that Qaumi Watan Party have great respect for the people of FATA as the brave people of tribal areas have always rendered great sacrifices for the cause of the country.
He added that Qaumi Watan Party will not leave the people of FATA alone in time of trouble and will always raise voice for their rights at every forum. He asked the government to take steps for timely repatriation of the internally displaced families of North Waziristan Agency and ensure their compensation.
To a question regarding amendment in Article 247 of the constitution, he said that government and armed forces must develop consensus like national Action Plane to make the amendment in article 247 to ensure basic human rights to the people of FATA.
Commenting on Karachi operation against criminals, Sikandar said that they want indiscriminate action against each criminal network being operating in Karachi. He added that peace in Karachi is very crucial for economic development of the country and it was right time to clear the city from criminal gangs.  
Regarding preparation of local bodies’ polls, he said that QWP has authorised party district organisation to award tickets to suitable candidates of their areas. He said that party workers has started preparation and hoped to clinch position in the upcoming local bodies’ polls.
