US drone strike kills 4 in NWA

MIRANSHAH - A US drone attack on a vehicle in North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan killed four insurgents Monday, security officials said.
The attack targeted a militant vehicle in Datta Khel district, 30 kilometres west of Miranshah, North Waziristan killing four militants, a security official said. “The drone fired two missiles on a vehicle. The vehicle caught fire and the bodies of the people inside were badly burnt,” he said. Security officials said the dead included Arab militants but gave no further details.
“Fear prevailed in the area as more drones were still flying in the air,” they said adding that the rescue process was also delayed due to drones flying in the air. The United States seemed to have increased its drone tactics within Pakistan as it was the fifth attack by a US drone in last four days.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan’s Parliament recently passed a resolution which demanded US to halt drone strikes inside Pakistan as it was violation of International Law.
There have now been four such attacks in the area since Thursday, in an apparent surge in covert strikes.
Earlier, on early Monday morning US drone struck in the same area killing at least eight suspected militants.
It was Monday’s second drone attack in the same area after a similar strike early in the morning killed eight militants.
Security officials said five missiles struck a vehicle and a house in Mir Ali, about 15 miles from Miranshah, North Waziristan’s main town.
A security official said the identities of the dead were not known, but that the area “was known for harboring Uzbek, Arab and other foreign militants.”
