Rawalpindi - A Banking Court on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of famous model, actress and singer Ayyan Ali till June 1, 2015 in money laundering case as the accused could not appear before the court because of lawyers’ strike. The lawyers are protesting the killings of two of their colleagues in Daska.
Banking Court Judge Sabir Sultan took up the money laundering case against the model during which he was apprised by the defence lawyer that she could not be produced before the court due to lawyers’ strike. Judge Sabir Sultan told both parties that the newly-appointed judge of Excise, Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court has assumed his charge, therefore, the accused should be produced before him on the next date of hearing.
The court also expressed annoyance over Pakistan Customs investigation team for its inability to produce complete charge sheet against the model. Pakistan Custom’s Prosecutor Muhammad Amin Feroz said that two suspects, including Awais and Mumtaz were still at large and efforts were underway to arrest them. “Complete challan would be submitted with the court if the accused were arrested and their statement recorded,” he said. After completion of arguments, Banking Court Judge Sabir Sultan postponed hearing in Ayyan Ali money laundering case till June 1, 2015 and ordered Customs investigators to produce the model before the newly-appointed judge for further proceeding.
