222 declared eligible

Our Staff Reporter HAFIZABAD - The District Verification Committee has declared 222 applicants out of total 746, as eligible for getting Yellow Cabs under CMs Poverty Alleviation Programme. According to District Coordination Officer Muhammad Asif, a total of 746 applications were received by the committee of which 222 were declared eligible. He said that the scrutiny of 63 applications were being made while the driving licences of 28 applicants were found bogus, adding that six applicants were found overage. He said that now successful applicants would get cabs at less than the prevalent market price and the loan would also be interest-free. DRIVE AGAINST PROFITEERS ON: The Special Price Magistrates continued crackdown on profiteers and fined 50 shopkeepers for violating price control act during the past week. A total fine of Rs23,700 was realized from the violators. The Special Price Magistrates have warned the shopkeepers dealing in essential commodities to desist from fleecing the consumers otherwise stern action would be taken against them.
