Two PPP men among 9 shot dead


KARACHI - Two workers of Pakistan Peoples Party among nine people were gunned down in separate incidents of violence here on Wednesday. Protesters torched a vehicle after the killing of Imambargah Trustee here on Wednesday.
A trustee of a Jamia Imamia Imambargah situated at Nazimabad was gunned down by the target killers within the remits of Gulbahar police station. Police said Hassan Mohsin aka Mama, 70, was sitting in a park situated near his home when some armed men entered the park and targeted him and later managed to flee from the scene. Police said that the victim sustained three bullets in different parts of his body. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities.
Heavy contingent of law enforcers were called at Gulbahar, Hassan Noman Colony and Rizvia Society to control any untoward situation. Following the incident, all commercial activities were suspended and unidentified protestors torched a mini bus in the said area during their protest against continuous killing of shias in the metropolis. Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen deputy general secretary Maulana Sadiq Raza Taqvi said that after the first ten days of Muharram, terrorists had again started target killings of the people belonging to shia sect as two shia men had so far been gunned down.
Manghopir Police have found two shot dead bodies of PPP workers from Ghazi Goth. Police said that the victims were identified as Barkat Farooq, 18, and Danish Saeed, 17. The deceased were the resident of Orangi Town area and their motorcycle was also found near their bodies. Police said the empty shells of 9mm and 30-bore pistol were found from crime scene.
 Police suspected that the culprits shot dead the victim at the same spot but the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.  A PPP official said that the victims were associated with the PS-95, Orangi Town as well as they were also playing active role in Peoples Youth wing.
Separately, Faraz, 25, was killed and his companion namely Akbar Khaleeq wounded when two armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at them near Hassan Square in Aziz Bhatti police precincts. Police said victims were going towards Hassan Square from their homes in Liaquatabad when the incident occurred while the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
A man namely Irfan aka Latif, 32, was shot dead at MA Jinnah Road in Aram Bagh police precincts. Police said the victim was standing at a shop when two armed riders shot him dead. Police suspected that the motive behind the killing was personal enmity but further investigation was underway.
A meat seller namely Junaid was shot dead and two others namely Nasir and Mehboob were wounded in indiscriminate firing incident by at least four armed riders on two motorcycles at a meat shop in Orangi Town. Police said that deceased and injured had no link with any political or religious party. Police said that apparently the incident occurred over personal enmity.
A tyre shop owner namely Riaz Niazi, 40, was gunned down inside the tyre market in Kalri Police precincts. SHO Chand Khan Niazi said victim’s neighbouring shopkeeper shot him dead after an exchange of hot words when he was collecting donation for the union. A factory worker namely Younus Saeed, 28, was gunned down in Metroville area within SITE A-Section police station. DSP Rana Shoaib said the deceased used to work at a garment factory and was on the way to the factory when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot and killed him over unexplained reasons.
A construction contractor, Bilal Memon, 42, was found dead from his house within Jamshed Quarters police remits. DSP Qaiser Ali Shah said that deceased was killed with the sharp material.  However a man namely Saleem, 52, and four of his family members namely Imran, Zahid, Chand and Shan were wounded when they offered resistance in a robbing bid at their house situated in Saeedabad area. The injured were taken to Civil Hospital. Police said that the culprits managed to escape along with the looted booty and other valuables.
