Govt mishandling PTI protests, alleges Opp

ISLAMABAD -  The government has mishandled the ongoing political situation arising out of the tussle with PTI and in fact enhanced the protestors’ popularity in the process, major opposition parties remarked yesterday.

PPP, MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) are blaming the PML-N government for mishandling the fast changing political situation.

The opposition parties are still suggesting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to avoid ‘solo flight’ against the government and deal political affairs under the umbrella of ‘combined opposition’.

Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah has condemned the ‘baton charge’ against the PTI supporters and AML chief Sheikh Rashid in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Talking to The Nation, another PPP lawmaker Rehman Malik apprehended state’s intervention against the supporters of protestors on November 2. “There is still need for a joint opposition strategy, as solo flight chosen by Imran Khan may not prove fruitful,” he said.

About Imran Khan’s failure to reach ‘Lal Haveli’, Malik said the protestors’ parties always keep two to three plans before announcing any political move. “The government has achieved its goal to foil Imran Khan’s plan to address at Lal Haveli with an aim to mobilize party members,” he said. MQM has blamed the government for making the PTI and AML show successful by its action against protestors. “The government is hell bent on increasing the popularity of PTI,” said MQM’s senior MNA while talking to The Nation.

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has also expressed its displeasure against government’s crackdown on workers of any political party.

These parliamentary political parties have strongly condemned the government crackdown but still not assuring PTI to join hand with it.

Political gurus believe that Imran in his strategy should only criticize government and Nawaz Sharif as fighting on multiple fronts will not help him achieve the desired gaols.
