Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has removed the Federal Minister for Information Perviaz Rashid for his post reportedly in connection with a leaked news report that was published in Dawn earlier this month.

According to details, Federal Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid was allegedly believed to be responsible for the security leaks from a high-level civil-military huddle and subsequent publication of the story.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asked Pervaiz Rashid to resign from his post while the inquiry is underway. According to sources the Principal Information Office Rao Tahsin has also removed for his post. It was further decided to put the names of Perviaz Rashid, Rao Tehsin and Prime Minister Special Advisor Mohiuddin Wani on Exit Control List (ECL).

Creditable sources further disclosed that government has also decided to launch investigation against Cyril Almeida after calling him back from the abroad. However, the other possible character of this negative episode the Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has reached Dubai along with his family.

Earlier, the country's military leadership has expressed grave concern over the publication of the controversial news item in an English daily. Military had dismissed the story as “unfounded” and called for a probe into the security meeting’s leak.

Yesterday Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif met with Army Chief and informed him that government would take action against those involved in this matter. The decision has been made to take action against all the characters under official secretariat act. It was also revealed that Prime Minister’s media cell has also taken part in leakage Information.

The sources further revealed that a committee consisting of ISI, MI and IB would further investigate the matter. 

The country's political experts were of the view that Cyril Almeida has already left the country. The crack down against responsible persons was launched after the meeting of political and military leadership reflects that PM had convinced to unveil the persons who put the national security at risk on the pressure of military leadership.

As per media reports, military leadership was assured by the PM that action will be taken against all staffers of media cell of PM secretariat regarding leakage of news item. And now this matter would come to an end of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of Nawaz Sharif and Mohiuddin Wani, Special Advisor of PM and influential of PM secretariat is also in hot waters.

According to sources, the PM on previous day, has also decided to terminate all officials functioning with former Information Minister Senator Pervez Rashid. It is pertinent to mention here that Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said in his tweet that he has come to Dubai to attend a marriage ceremony and would come back on Sunday.

On the other hand, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has also announced to hold an important press conference tomorrow.
