PPP all set to contest mid-term elections

PPP leader Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that “Go Nawaz Go” had become a strong voice of the whole nation, adding that his party was in very strong position and ready to contest mid-term elections, if held.
Addressing a meeting of the flood affectees held at Saidpur-Bajwat village after distribution of ratio bags, she accused the PML-N government of politically victimising the flood affectees belonging to other parties, adding that it was doing politics on flood devastation.
She alleged that the government gave ration bags only to those affectees who had connections with the PML-N in flood hit areas of Sialkot district. She said, “The flood affectees were in dire need of help from all of us; it is not time for doing politics on flood.” She added that the PPP would not leave the flood affectees alone in the hard time.
Later, talking to newsmen at her residence in village Koobay Chak-Bajwat, she narrated that the PPP wanted continuity of democracy and supremacy of the Constitution to ensure political and economic stability in the country. She vowed to continue PPP’s tradition of sacrifices for democracy and promotion.
She said that PPP would continue its leading role in national political scenario for safeguarding democracy, adding that the PPP would safeguard democracy as it had given sacrifices for democracy.
She said that PPP would never compromise on democracy. She stated the continuity of democracy and supremacy of constitution was vital for national political and economic stability. She said that her party had completed its home work at grassroots level and was ready to ensure early come back in the Punjab’s political scenario.
326 PROFITEERS FINED: During a special crackdown here, the district administration slapped a collective fine of Rs456,100 on 326 shopkeepers for selling the daily use commodities on exorbitant rates.
The district administration said that the hoarders had been sent behind bars after registering separate cases against them under the Price Control Act. It said an all-out effort was being made to ensure the provision of quality food items to the consumers on official rates.
It said that the special price magistrates and special teams were monitoring rates in the wholesale and retail markets in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils.
