Employees warn of protests if govt fails to take steps

SWABI - All Government Employees Coordination Council (AGECC) said Sunday that if the federal and provincial governments failed to ensure implementation of pay and pension commission’s recommendations till May 9, they would run a protest campaign from May 10.
They said their protest would continue till the federal budget was announced while marching towards the Parliament House.
Shaukat Ali Anjum, provincial general secretary of AGECC, briefed media about their protest plan and peace overtures which they had already made, saying that a peaceful resolution of the salary issue is their utmost desire.
Flanked by district president Abdul Hakim and other office-bearers he told media after the meeting that in case of government failure to meet their demands they prepared a protest plan and no body can stop them from their peaceful protest for their rights.
Unveiling the plan he said protest demonstration would also be held in Peshawar on May 16. before that protests would held on May 10 in all district of the khyber pakhtunkhwa. “It is the responsibility of the government to come forward and sit across the table with the leaders of the public sector employees, settling the issue of the salary before the budget,” he said.
However, Mr Shaukat said their first and foremost demand is the peaceful resolution and they appealed to the government to implement the recommendations of the commission which was established by the present regime.
“We have not set up the commission. It was constituted by the government and its members put forward genuine recommendations after finalising all the aspects of the salary of the public sector employees. Now voilation of the commission is not aceeptable to us,” he said.
If the government was not in mood to implement its recommendations then why the commission was established and why hue and cry was made about its reccomdations, he questioned.
Meanwhile, the Public Health Engineering Department has begun work on installation of drinking water tube wells in Masha Mansoor, Khar Badnikhel, Jhangkhel and Abdulkhel villages to provide clean water facility to the residents”, claimed MNA Humayun Saifullah Khan while talking to a delegation of area elders.
According to a statement on Sunday, Mr Saifullah said that the water supply schemes would be completed at the cost of Rs 13 million. “The residents of these villages were faced with the scarcity of water since long”, the lawmaker maintained.
He said that with the installation of tube wells the rural population would get clean water for drinking and other purposes.
He reiterated that he and his brothers left no stone unturned for the well being and betterment of area people during the last four years.
