JI chief lashes out at PPP for defying court orders

Jamat-I-Islami Chief Syed Munwwar Hassan harshly criticized the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and said that the party was showing defiance against the Supreme Court orders.
Addressing a large public gathering at Jamrud Stadium on Monday, he said that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has drown in corruption.
He was of the view that the prime minister had no right to appeal against the orders of country’s top court as he had completed his sentence. Hassan said that the people would have to take to streets as the PPP had been continuously defying the court orders. He demanded that drone strikes in country’s tribal areas be immediately stopped and warned that sit-ins would be staged from Karachi to Torkham (Peshawar) if Nato supply routes were reopened. JI Vice chief Sirajul Haq and provincial chief Prof Ibrahim Khan also spoke on the occasion.
