PESHAWAR: Former federal minister and religious scholar doctor Noorul Haq Qadri has said that Islam was the religion of peace and brotherhood, while some of the western agents and like-minded Pakistani politicians want to declare religious seminaries as centers for threats to the world.
Doctor Noorul Haq Qadri was speaking to a graduating ceremony of 290 religious scholars held in Zarghooni mosque, in Peshawar.
Noorul Haq said that Pakistani politicians want to make Pakistan a secular country, where no one would have right to ask their sons and daughter for this or wrong doings. He said a bill was tabled in the national assembly to make a law to suggest seven years of punishment for husband, if his wife complained of being trashed or intended to do so.
Noorul Haq Qadri warned that thousands of his followers will come on the roads if Namoos-e-Rasalat law was changed.
Qadri said he was running 159 seminaries in different cities of Pakistan, where more than 20,000 students at a time were seeking Islamic and modern education.
Ex-senator Hafiz Abdul Malik Qadri and religious scholars from Afghanistan, Karachi and other cities of Pakistan were present on the occasion.
