ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif yesterday said he had already taken the nation into confidence on his assets’ details, but some politicians who did not want to see the country flourish were making an issue out of non-issue to push the state into chaos.
“Despite my decision to set up a commission led by the chief justice as desired by all the political parties, the opponents have changed their stance and are politicking with hollow slogans,” the prime minister said during his meetings with the party parliamentarians who called on him separately.
The MNAs who met the prime minister were Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Alamdad Laleka and Mian Najeebuddin Awaisi.
The prime minister said record number of projects had been completed during his tenure, adding he did not believe in mere customary inaugurations, but ensured that the projects he inaugurated should be completed in the given timeframe, for which he had evolved a mechanism to keep watch on them.
A source in the Prime Minister’s House affirmed that Premier Sharif had asked the MPs to project the positive image of the party in their respective constituencies and neutralise the negative propaganda of the opposition parties on the Panama leaks.
The source said the party MPs fully endorsed the government’s stance on the Panama leaks, asking the prime minister to show no more laxity to the opposition parties coming up with demands one after the other as their aim was to distract the government’s attention from its development agenda.
The prime minister further said his opponents had realised that with the pace the ruling PML-N was engaged in executing the development projects across the country, they had no chance to face them in the next general elections.
He further said the people of Pakistan had fully endorsed his prudent policies and the victory of PML-N candidates in almost all the by-elections across the country showed the growing trust of the masses in the PML-N’s reform and development agenda.
The prime minister mentioned the three gas projects inaugurated the other day in Abbottabad and Mansehra.
It is pertinent to mention here that some media channels have run the news that the prime minister inaugurated the old projects which had been inaugurated by him or the Pakistan People’s Party government in the past.
He urged the parliamentarians to sincerely and dedicatedly serve the masses. He said soon 10,000MW electricity would be added to the national grid, which would help overcome the power shortage.
Nawaz Sharif said the country’s economy had attained stability with low inflation rate and high foreign exchange reserves.
The parliamentarians told the prime minister that the people were supporting his pro-development policies. They apprised the prime minister of the pace of development work in their constituencies.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Communications Abdul Hakeem Baloch briefed the prime minister on the status of ongoing development projects across the country. The state minister informed him that utmost transparency had been ensured while initiating the motorway projects with no compromise on their completion within the stipulated time, so these infrastructure development projects worth Rs 800 billion, including CPEC projects, would be completed during the next two to three years.
The prime minister said the government’s vision of governance was based on transparency and efficiency and there would be no compromise on both these components.
He asserted the network of connectivity projects across the country would complement the regional connectivity initiative, speed up development process across the country, increase the economic growth of Pakistan and result in generating employment opportunities.
“Our development and reform agenda revolves around the progress and prosperity of the people of Pakistan,” said the prime minister.
