Girls clinch top positions

BAHAWALLPUR – The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has declared the results of BA/BSc and B.Com Annual Examinations 2012 at a ceremony.
Vice-Chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Dr Muhammad Mukhtar was the chief guest on the occasion. The pass percentage of B.A Annual Examination-2012 remained 43.58 % as 5,711 candidates have been declared passed out of 13,105.
The pass percentage of the B.Sc Annual examinations 2012 remained 47.95% as 2,046 candidates were declared successful out of 4,267 candidates. The pass percentage of B.Com annual examinations- 2012 remained 61.72% as 1,525 candidates were declared successful out of 2,489 candidates. Maria Marriam daughter of Muhammad Jamil Abid, Roll No 11508 of the Govt. College for Women, Bahawal Nagar topped the university in the B.A Annual Examination-2012 as she secured 686 marks out of 800 marks.
Amber Hussain d/o Khadim Hussain, Roll No 5164 of the Govt. College for Women Hasilpur secured second position and got 670 marks while Asad Ajmal s/o Ajmal Khan, Roll No. 9950 of the Bahawalpur district remained third in the university and secured 668 marks.
In the B.Sc Annual Examination 2012, Anam Maqsood d/o Maqsood Hussain, Roll No 2053 of the Iqra Post-Graduate College, Sadiqabad got 1st position and secured 715 marks out of 800 while Aysha Qamar d/o Rehmatullah Roll No 2054 of Iqra Post-Graduate College, Sadiqabad remained second and obtained 699 marks.
Masooma Raza Hashmi d/o Altaf Hussain Hashmi Roll No 1642 of the NICAAS Post-Graduate College remained 3rd and got 688 marks. In the B.Com Annual Examination-2012, Nimra Rashid of the Superior College of Commerce, Rahim Yar Khan got 1st position in the university and obtained 1217 marks out of 1500 marks while Hira Ather of the Unique College of Commerce obtained 2nd position and secured 1195 marks and Zunaira Ameer of the same college remained 3rd and obtained 1193 marks.
The vice-chancellor in his address on the occasion congratulated the position holders, their parents and teachers besides all those students who remained successful in the examinations and appreciated the girls over attaining top positions and remarked that it was a good sign that our females are enjoying equal status in our society and there is no gender discrimination and surely our females will perform equally good for national development.
He said that The IUB had taken a number of steps to the quality of education and research work which had produced positive results and now the IUB had attained the 12th ranking position in the 135 universities of the country but our aim was to be among the top 10 universities of the country towards our goal to be among top 5 countries of the country.
He announced that the position holders will be given free education if they desire to continue their studies at IUB.
