PESHAWAR – Members of the Sarhad Commerce of Commerce & Industry Standing Committee on Textbook Board and Printers and Publishers demanded representation in the committee constituted for evaluation of printing of textbooks.
In this connection a meeting was held with Chairman Printers and Publishers Standing Committee Sheryar Lodhi and Chairman Standing Committee on Textbook Board, Mohamd Akhtar in chair, on Wednesday here at the chamber. President Printers & Publishers Association, Iqtidar Ali Akhunzada, General Secretary Niaz Mohammad, Vice Chairman Standing Committee on Printers and Publishers, Shakeel Ahmad Quershi, with a large number of publishers attended the meeting.
The meeting endorsed the efforts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government for withdrawal of new textbook 2006 and extended special gratitude to the provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Sardar Hussain Babak in this regard.
The participants expressed satisfaction over the government decision for abolition of the proposed contract with so-called publishers to provide textbooks on nominal prices. In this regard, the meeting informed the government had issued instruction to textbooks board to prepare quality books with DIST.
The meeting also expressed satisfaction over introduction of unit wise evaluation, termed that the decision was fulfilled the longstanding demand of publishers. The participants demanded the chamber representation in evaluation committee on printing of books to publish textbooks with joint consultation and protect the interest of printing industry in the province. The meeting praised the efforts of Chairman Textbook Board Abdul Rahim Marwat, member Islamuddin, Deputy Secretary Abdul Rahim Bacha, Alamzeb Khan and member PSP Jamsheed Khan for carried out unit wise evaluation.
