ISLAMABAD :Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sought extension in the deadline set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to file party's annual return of accounts with it for the last financial year that ended on June 30. PTI in a letter written to the ECP has sought extension of 15 days in the deadline ending on August 29 to file party' annual return of accounts with it. The letter has been addressed to the ECP secretary. "The deadline for filing of the annual return of accounts with ECP is going to expire very soon and the audit of accounts (of party) through a reputed firm of chartered accounts is in process," says the letter, which is available with The Nation. It further says that the external auditor has requested extension in time to complete quality control review and comprehensive audit procedures for audit of accounts of the party for the financial year ending June 30, 2015.
"In view of the above, you are requested to please grant extension in time for at least 15 days for submission of annual return of accounts audited by the external auditor of the party," the letter further says.
All political parties under Article 13 of Political Parties Order 2002 have to submit details of their accounts within 60 days after the closing date of last financial year that ends with 30 June of every year.
